   Hello everyone and welcome. I am an artist with an idea that I see as both a tribute to the adult gaming community and a fun personal project. Such a fun project in fact that I'd like to put a lot more time into building this little world that I have started. 

What is Project Underlands, and what does it intend to be in the future?

   Currently, Project Underlands is a (small) open-world 2D RPG with platformer elements created entirely by me (Minus a few legally sampled audio clips). The game follows the tale of a Player who is cast down from High Society into the Pit of the Condemned.

   The people of High Society believe this to be a pit of death, a bottomless chasm leading from the surface straight to the depths of Hell. The truth of course, is a bit more complicated than that. For in dark places lie great and dark secrets, and the Pit of the Condemned... Far more than death lies in the Pit, should the Pit choose you might be useful to it. At least, that is what the society at the bottom of this great chasm believes. Those few survivors of a mighty Fall. Those few who are protected by magics they could only guess at, and wonder.

   Needless to say, a society comprised entirely of individuals who were thrown in a pit for perceived crimes has the potential to be a very interesting place, these people (and in some cases, 'monsters') have survived a fall that lasted miles. Many have watched their friends explode across the surface of the mighty Pits walls on their Fall, only to find the floor soft and welcoming when they reached the bottom. Many claimed to have seen people falling straight down the center of the pit, only to suddenly veer into the wall at a 90 degree angle and explode across it.

   Nobody knew why they had been spared, by whom, or what. Everyone has a theory though, and everyone misses daylight.

   You will join our "Hero" in a quest to make the best of things. and carve out a position of influence in this new society. Through your patronage and contributions to our new community, we can flesh out the content together via polls and discord chats.

So, how much is done already?

  At the moment the game is in a pre-alpha state. It is stable enough to play and explore though so please give it a few minutes of your time. Updates are once per week every Sunday, I will be setting up an update board on here and a poll in Patreon if the project picks up any steam.

Sounds good so far, but, where is this going? Why do you need crowdfunding?

   To start, let me tell you a little about myself. I am a professional artist and a hobbyist programmer. I have over the years been honing these skills with the goal of building my own game someday. And that day has come. So, while this game has come far having been built in my free time. With money, I would be able to take this project to the next level. Because then I won't have to sacrifice the bulk of my time to a job. I could just expand this place. #Goals. 

   Project Underlands is going to be an experience that I think many adults will find some flavor in. The world of Underlands is inspired by a love for games like Maple Story, Harvest Moon, Fable, and Summertime Saga. My goal for Project Underlands is to use its universe as a canvas and playground for me to hone my skills and creativity as an artist and a creator, as well as for others to enjoy and participate in, and give me feedback on where I can improve. For now, Project Underlands is a small, humble, open-world dating sim, but with your help, it could be a sprawling world with tons of characters, encounters, and stories.
